okay so let's be honest... (part VI)

Jesus isn't safe; He's not tame like we make Him out to be.
He's not afraid to rain on our parade.
And I think it would be good sometimes if He did.

Christianity isn't about following the rules.
It's not about following the law or going to church every week.
It’s not about following a religion.
It's about following a man.
The only real man to ever exist.
More man than I could ever be.

Jesus isn't swayed by our sin.
He isn't disgusted by our weakness or by our perversity.
He says, "I know all about it and I can take it away, I can cure you.”

Jesus sees men for what they are, as His creatures, and not what they have.
Not what job they have, or what car they drive or what status they have in society.
He sees people for what they are.
He goes beyond what we go beyond.

Let me suggest that Jesus doesn't care what job you choose, what clothes you wear.
He cares that you would believe that He loves you and that you would know His Father.

We see people for their imperfections.
Jesus sees us for our hearts.
He sees the very marrow of our being.
I would suggest that you try that this week.
Quit looking at people for the imperfections and look at their hearts.
Don't care about what they look like or how they act.
Or even what they say.
Ask yourself why they are the way they are.
Look at the core of their being.
Why are they broken? (Why are we all broken?)
Don’t be so arrogant and lazy that you refuse to ask yourself the hard questions.
These are not easy or comfortable things to ask.
It’s much easier to criticize others than it is to dig to the core of things.
And in some cases the rabbit hole goes deeper than most or us care to go.
And I guess that is one of the most bafflingly beautiful things about Jesus.
He loves us even though we are a bunch of screwed up failures.
