becoming a stinky granola hippie.

the fact is Jebidiah (my amish beard) has led me into longing for a life that is more simple and more in tune with God and His creation.

"Serve God, Save the Planet" by Matthew Sleeth, and Rob Bell's sermon series, "God is Green", have really inspired me to think about my consumerism and what I am doing to God's gift to us, and how what I do here in the U.S. affects those who live in poverty stricken countries as well as the people of the future. I don't want it to come down to us having to eat Soylent Green, if ya know what i mean. (Any Charlton Heston fans in the house?)

anyway, i've been reading this book called "the concise guide to self-suffiency" and it is really amazing. it tells you how to do all kinds of things to live a more simple life. (i.e. gardening, saving energy, and random crafts and stuff). it's awesome.

there is this sweet show on the HGTV called "Living with Ed" where this wealthy guy decided to give up the big house and gas guzzling SUV and live simply. It's pretty amazing. check it.

i've also been trying to eat organic/all-natural foods too. Which has been well, interesting. But yesterday I discovered that Kroger has an amazing organic/all-natural section. All-natural Cheetos! CHA CHING!

Hi, my name is Dustin and I work with a Christian environmental organization called Christians in Conservation: A Rocha USA. I noticed that you mentioned Dr. Matthew Sleeth in your post, and I thought that you might like to know that our organization sponsors him as a "creation care evangelist." We would love for you to check us out at our website, en.arocha.org/usa. You might also be interested the website for Dr. Sleeth's book, www.servegodsavetheplanet.org.
