i'm a big fan of fair trade products... fair trade is a responsible way to ensure that we aren't feeding into the problem of poverty... in order for something to be certified free trade it must follow these principles...

1. Fair price
everyone gets paid fairly for the labor they give.

2. Fair labor conditions
NO CHILD LABOR! safe working conditions.

3. Direct trade
No middlemen. Also empowering workers to expand their knowledge of the business they are the essential part of.

4. Democratic and transparent organizations
Farmers and farm workers must decide together how to invest revenues in order to keep the business uncorrupt.

5. Community development
Fair Trade companies invest in their communities. via scholarships, social development, etc.

6.Environmental sustainability
A way to keep businesses going for future generations.
