reaping what i sew.

so i've decided to be a better steward of the things that i have. i took up sewing. now keep in mind that this is mere patchwork, nothing too complicated. i basically have sewn holes, buttons and loose stitching. and if you saw my handiwork, you'd be seriously unimpressed. but the mere fact that I fixed some things that just a year ago i would have considered useless & garbage, and restored it to glory makes me happy. now mind you, i use the word "glory" a little too freely... my signature work is sloppy at best considering i know not even the simplest stitching pattern. but the clothes i did restore, as sloppy as they are, everytime i wear them I will think endearingly "hey friend, remember that one time when you were useless, and i stitched you right up? you may not be the same but at least you have the sweet stitching that i gave you"...

i am so glad God doesn't consider us useless and garbage if we get worn out or a little ripped at the seams. clothing restoration is a tiny echo of the restoration that God can give when he restores us. sometimes i wonder if God is saying endearingly "hey friend, remember that one time when you were useless, and i stitched you right up? you may not be the same but at least you have the sweet stitching that i gave you"...
