the invitation to leave your zombie ways

Do you ever feel like a zombie? Now, i don't mean a zombie in the blood sucking flesh eating sense of the word. I guess what I mean is do you ever feel like you are going about life doing the motions, droning about in a mundane cycle all the while just feeling a little dead inside. I mean, you know that you are alive, you eat and you sleep and you repeat, you walk about "getting things done" but something in the very core of who you are cries out that something is desperately not right... and i'm not preaching about the "God shaped hole"... it's something deeper (or more simple, i'm not sure) than just having Jesus in your life... It's a feeling of being a part of something that is bigger than yourself that somehow benefits the whole of humanity... maybe that is the Jesus hole... but if that's it, then it's something that going to church and being a decent person can't fill... those things don't seem to quench the thirst or hunger...

I think this feeling haunts more people than we are honest enough to admit... I don't know about you... I know this seems to be a rather emo post, but I don't have this feeling all the time, and most of the time i feel it is in the winter when i am the least connected to nature and more connected to man-made junk that just doesn't have the same beauty of a sunset or even a pile of dirt can have...

there is something to be said about being a part of something that makes things better. there is something to be said about being fully awake.

I wanna be alive. Not just the emotional high "alive". I really want to live.
