so I was mowing the grass... and thoughts of Jesus and stuff pops up... mowing the grass always does this to me... anyway i got to thinking about how much i've changed in the past 2 years... my opinions and goals and what I believe being a christian really means... so i decided to dedicate this entry to things that have fed me in the past few years... so here it goes...
there have been many numerous people, cd's, movies, t.v. shows, etc. but these are the big ones...
matt polley... he's radical... in a big way he really came at a time in my life where my faith had kind of leveled off, and I had become content with who I was and wasn't really striving to be much more... and he came and ruined all of that... thanks bud... he's led me to many books and teachers that are in this list...
kim golden... she's given me books too and she continues to strive to live this whole Jesus thing out in a very real way... i still believe i made her who she is... but... nonetheless, she's made me grow a lot too...
rob bell... ummm genius teacher/author/filmmaker... He's the teaching pastor at Mars Hill Bible Church... if you have iTunes, subscribe to their podcast... go to their website... http://www.marshill.org/ He also wrote 2 amazing books called "velvet elvis" and "sex god"... Also he has a series of short films called "nooma"... they are AMAZING... http://www.nooma.com/
shane claiborne... he is part of a new monastic community called the simple way... http://www.thesimpleway.org/... he wrote a book that shattered my thoughts about what the christian church is called to be... it's called "the irresistible revolution"... go buy it...
mike yaconelli... he wrote a little book I stumbled upon about 3 years or so ago that actually really prepared me to open my mind and look at christianity and Jesus differently... it's called "messy spirituality"... go and buy it... he also wrote another book called "dangerous wonder" that is well worth checking out...
donald miller... he wrote a wonderful book called "blue like jazz: nonreligious thoughts on christian spirituality"... it's beautifully scattered... he also wrote another great book called "searching for God knows what"...
derek webb... great lyrical artist... go buy his new CD "the ringing bell" if you go to the right place you can get a free graphic novel based on the lyrics... also get Mockingbird... but i'm sure you've all heard me rant about that CD... enough... considering I did a whole series based on the lyrical content of that...
