fading fast

your beauty fades with each new lie.
you cover up to offer soft-soap.
do you even see what is unfolding?
do you know how the apologue ends?
the bride becomes the beast.
the child is silenced with bitter age.
muted by a well trained, calloused heart.
o where is your innocence?
o where is your passion?
remember when you danced without regard?
seldom i see the glimmer of your hidden child.
i hang to the hope to see her dance again.
but the glimmer fades to reveal the monstrosity you've become.
the facade.
the masquerade.
you dress to impress.
but your freedom isn't free.
your wisdom isn't wise.
you play it safe.
and in your safety there is danger.
you're a sham.
a mockery.
you just don't get it.
i love you.
but i can barely stand you.
wake up o sleepy giant.
dust off your weary bones.
