nothing is sound

so tonight i packed up my elitist ego and went and bought the brand new switchfoot cd, nothing is sound. the record came out today, and i have been anticipating it for quite some time... I have been a huge fan of switchfoot since before their first full length cd came out back in 1997. (what? they've been around that long? yes, and my secret pleasure known as switchfoot has been leaked to the world)... part of me is happy for switchfoot for finally getting the attention they have deserved for years, while another part of me wishes they were still my little secret... it makes cringe to think that they might be considered to be part of a long line of replaceable "pop" music... switchfoot will always have a special place in my heart, and in essence they will always be "my band"... switchfoot has inspired me time and time again and their music has really left a mark in my life... they have influenced me to be a better man, to dump a couple of girlfriends and to love and have hope for God-influenced music... i have given devotions on their music... i have lyrics from their first album written on my mirror, something i did some 8 or 7 years ago and haven't wiped away... they have been one of the few constants in my life... it goes that deep...

here's to another great record by one of my favorite bands... (till the world caves in)
